On January 29th, Mayor John E. McCormac, the Municipal Council, the Woodbridge Township School Board and the School District Administration recognized the winners of the annual essay contest honoring the work and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
Sixteen winning essays were chosen - one from each elementary school in the district. Two of the winners are G&T students. Rohan Marwaha from School #26 who is a student in Mrs. Schanck's Enrichment Class and Jordan Vazquez from School #22, a student in Mr. Uribe's Theatre Arts Class. Both are third graders.

An Education Resource
Just because a child is gifted doesn't mean he or she couldn't use a little help memorizing those time tables. Timez Attack is a great resource for that, it was created by people who make Play Station games so it has the look and feel of a real video game - and there is a downloadable version for free.

Gifted, Talented and Neglected
The Home News Tribune had an article on Sunday, January 27, 2007 entitled Gifted, Talented and Neglected. Although it does not mention the Woodbridge Township Gifted and Talented Program, it is interesting to note the problem that gifted programs face.

The Edge of the Forest
The students in Mrs. Schanck's and Mrs. Staab's PEG classes were interviewed about what they enjoy reading for a feature called Kid Picks in the online magazine about children's literature, The Edge of the Forest.
It's not surprising that these children do a lot of reading, and it's also not surprising that Harry Potter was the series most commonly mentioned.
